Meet Sammy

This is Sammy, our little 8 pound Maltese friend. He is 4 years old and loves working with the residents of Assisted Living homes and also with children as they read to him at the library. Sammy was trained by an AKC trainer and certified for his work. We both enjoy our times together as we see smiles on the faces of the people we meet.

Sammy had an older sister, Molly, who passed away at the age of 14 ½. She was tired and in pain and did not always enjoy his puppy antics. However, when she lost her sight and was unable to maneuver through the new doggie door, Sammy spent about 20 minutes patiently teaching her. He went out and held the door. Then he came in and held the door. Then he nudged her while he held the door until finally she followed him through. From then on she could manage it!

Sometimes it is comforting to have a cuddly little dog sitting along side or wandering over when someone seems upset. Sammy can be a part of a family meeting if families would like to include him in our office.
