Judith Good Close, MA, MS, CPG, CSA
Judith Good Close is a Consulting Gerontologist, credentialed through the National Association of Professional Gerontologists. She came to this field after sixteen years as an educator (BA, Liberal Arts; MA, Education), teaching students with learning disabilities from elementary through college. She also trained teachers and paraprofessionals and was responsible for the development and implementation of one of the first High Tech Centers for the Disabled in California. She has been a keynote speaker and an advocate for both parents and students.
In order to care for her aging parents, she retired from a second career in business where she had developed and managed an Internship Program. It was the experience of being a care-giver that led her to the realization of the great need for education and understanding of the needs of both the elderly as well as their families and care-givers. Judith returned to graduate school to obtain another Masters Degree (Psychology, summa cum laude). She also became credentialed as a Gerontologist through the National Association of Credentialed Gerontologists (NAPG) and is certified as an Senior Advisor through the Society of Senior Advisors (SCSA). Judith is a member of the Gerontological Society of America (GSA), the American Society on Aging (ASA), the California Council on Gerontology and Geriatrics (CCGG), and the Coalition for Compassionate Care of California (CCCC). Judith spent two years as an Ombudsman serving residents of both large and small facilities. She continues to work with Seniors and families as they navigate this challenging journey, bringing evidence-based strategies that allow each person and their relationships to flourish.
“As a Gerontologist and an Educator, I have seen the impact of developing clear plans with involvement of all parties as they travel this unique and fluid journey of life. These plans need to uphold the dignity and positive self-perception of the older person while addressing the very real needs and limitations of each family member and care giver.
“This challenging part of life‘s journey can be a capstone experience for all. That is my goal.”
